my name is Miss turnagain and I'm very proud of my 3rd block AP Literature class for shining a light on censorship we are celebrating banned books week waiting for my favorite books telling a little bit about why we feels at censorship is not appropriate in High School classrooms and the library banned books week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read the books featured in sweets have all been targeted for removal or restrictions in libraries and schools highlights value of free and open access to information across the country to remove or restrict access to book Steamboat sweet draws national attention to the harms of censorship list of challenged books as reported in the media and submitted by the library and teachers across the country is censorship leaves us in the dark urging everyone to keep the light on Banning books erases opportunities for students to learn about different time periods and different ways of lives sample The Great Gatsby is about a man in the 1920s in the United States and if I had never read The Great Gatsby then I would never have found my interest in the 1920's era I think that if we ban this book or any other book in a lonely call farm and lost opportunities for students all around the world Benning works of literature is only a form of silencing one's creativity creativity is a power most take for granted until it is stripped for me. what is a power some evidently fear creativity is a power everyone should have Banning 13 reason why takes away the importance of knowing about depression and suicide the Banning of books not only restricts what we know about the world how we see it sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong the key is to never stop doing right the hate you give by Angie Thomas I do not wish any reward but to know I have done the right thing The Adventures of Huck Finn by Mark Twain it's kind of hard to ask a dead guy what he The Maze Runner James Dashner you don't forget the face of the person who was your last hope more games the mark of the end your man is that he wants to Die nobly For A Cause By The Mark of the immature man is that he wants to live humbly for one The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger you know that there is no quick comfort for emotions like that they were deeper and they did not need to be told they were felt The Giver Lois Lowry pick her up on the outside of society they were looking for a fight there with Skip Along The Outsiders s e Hinton well life is a constant struggle of being an individual and being a member of the community the absolutely true Diary of a part-time time Indian by Sherman alexie I believe the book should not be banned because it's reading is very important for a society to move forward regardless if you believe that something is too harsh of a subject for you to talk about those are topics that we need to read and learn from SSI t until I feared I would lose it I never loved to read one does not love to kill Harper Lee Banning 13 reason why takes away the importance of knowing about depression and suicide
